Nestled on a highly wooded site in the well-known Shakespearean town of Ashland, Oregon this timber modern design is slightly misleading. From the exterior the home looks to be fairly typical in its composition, but look inside at the serpentine floor plan with amazing 3-dimensional spaces that continue to please over and over again.
From a planning standpoint, the entrance is towards the back of the home, concealing the expansive view of Grizzly Peak from across the valley, which is framed perfectly inside of a tall radius great room wall of glass. The home hugs the topography set from the original mountain terrain, therefore limiting the amount of earth needed to be moved for the new build. The master is a sits on the ground floor in a dedicated wing of the home, almost a small apartment type getaway, three guest bedrooms are found on the 2 nd floor, each with windows framing a different mountain view.
The most important element that can be taken away from this modern mountain villa, is the ability to meet a typically wish list from the homeowner and respond with elements that create such a sense of surprise.
