Sting Ray

Project Information:
Location: Jacksonville, Oregon
Site Area: 2.23 acres
Building Area: 3,315 sf
Project Description:

Tucked in a secluded 4 parcel luxury development, and connected to the Jacksonville Woodlands trail system, all of the home CCNR’s are intended to promote modern organic designs.  The homes are meant to integrate seamlessly into their environment, while taking advantage of the best site opportunities, as views, ease of accessibility and also outdoor living.

Stingray was conceived out of its connection to site and the owners requirement to host large networking gatherings at their home.  With a paved 360-degree wrap around driveway guests can arrive at the rear of the home, and enter from the main entrance.  The home features a pre-lobby/foyer area which branches off to the master bedroom in one wing and mirrored in the other wing is a master guest suite.  After passing through the pre-arrival/oversized foyer guests/owners transition through a narrow framed opening to compress the experience and then feel the expanse of the main great room.  18 foot Ridge Vault and views from every corner this is a great room that is meant to provide many nooks and crannies for small conversations while taking in the mountain views.

The main structural framing component chosen for the home was Laminated Veneer Lumber, because of its strength; it’s the strongest of all engineered wood.  As most builders/designers which use LVL’s typically choose to conceal the product, but because of the organic aesthetic once stained and finished the owners and designer chose to expose the LVL’s.
