Modern Tuscan

Project Information:

Location: Ashland, Oregon
Site Area: 4.5 acres
Building Area: 3,400 sf

Project Description:

Located at the base of well-known Pompadour Bluff in the south Ashland hills, this modern interpretation of a traditional Italian villa compliments the best characteristics of the site while maintaining a Tuscan feel. The composition is made up of dramatic sets of Palladian windows and the home is crowned with a 4 story Campanile tower.
Its plan is set as a traditional crucifix, however unlike a traditional church where entering from the end, this particular villa the guest and owners arrive form the side of the plan, opening up dramatic views of the valley once the large double entrance doors are open. Adjacent barrel vaults house the Kitchen and Entertainment spaces, opposing these areas runs the spline of the house where the dining table is located with tall windows behind inviting Pompadour Bluff to have a seat at the table.
This project is a great example of internalizing an owner’s background and dreams, and then in collaborative fashion creating something that goes beyond the typical.
